Travel Information

Giessen is easy to reach both by plane and by train. Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) with direct flight connections to many destinations in Europe and worldwide is only 70 km south of Gießen. There is a train connection twice an hour from the airport railway station to Giessen's main railway station (regional train ticket 20.- EUR , group ticket for up to 5 people 53.50 EUR). You have to change trains at Frankfurt central railway station. The journey time is approx. 1 hour.

Alternatively, Giessen can be reached in about 40 minutes by airport taxi. Please note that Uber does not serve Giessen. Shuttle service must be prebooked at www.fly-mobil.de. The driver will pick you up at the meeting point in the arrival area. The price is 90.- EUR for a car and 130.- EUR for a minibus.

Arrival by train

The chemistry building is located on the natural sciences campus "Seltersberg" and can be reached on foot (1.7 km, approx. 20 minutes) from Giessen main station. You can also take bus line no. 10 (bus stop "Naturwissenschaften", every 30 minutes, travel time 12 min.) to the campus. A taxi stand is located directly in front of the main station building.

Arrival by car

If you arrive by car, you can use the public car park directly at the venue.

Arrival by bike

If you want, you can also rent a bike at Giessen main station or at various locations in the city centre. There is a rental bike system operated by nextbike.
